Legoland California To Get New Indoor Roller Coaster

It's the first coaster to be built in 20 years at the Carlsbad-based theme park.

CARLSBAD, CA — Legoland California is getting its first new roller coaster in two decades.

An indoor coaster is being constructed at the Carlsbad-based theme park, Merlin Entertainments, the company that operates the theme park, announced Tuesday. The same ride is also being built at Legoland Florida Resort.

"This isn't just a ride, it'll be an exploration unlike any other," Legoland California Resort President Kurt Stocks said. "As the first roller coaster to be built in 20 years at Legoland California, we're sparing no expense to deliver the most innovative, interactive and captivating experience possible.”

Merlin Entertainments is making the biggest ever single in-park investment in the history of the resorts, spending roughly $90 million on the two new rides, according to the company.

The new coaster is expected to open at both theme parks in 2026.
