Lego Dinosaurs Fly Above Legoland Ahead Of Dino Valley Opening
Lego models were craned into the Carlsbad-based theme park's all-new land, Dino Valley, set to open this spring.
CARLSBAD, CA — It's a bird ... it's a plane ... it's a dinosaur!
Four Lego dinosaurs recently flew above Legoland California Resort as they were craned into the Carlsbad-based theme park's all-new land, Dino Valley, set to open this spring.
The land will be home to 35 Lego models created out of more than 1.8 million Lego bricks. Due to the size and weight of some of the models, a crane had to lift them into their new home.

A purple Dilophosaurus weighing 164 pounds was the first to fly over the theme park, followed by a yellow Dilophosaurus that took a team of five master model builders 450 hours to design and build. Along with the models that were lifted by crane, master model builders are filling the land with Lego Pterodactyls, Raptors, Parasaurolophus and Brachiosaurus. The largest Lego model of the land, an 11-foot-tall Lego T-Rex, was placed in the ride Explorer River Quest.
Located near the entrance of the park, Dino Valley will feature three rides, an interactive build and play area, and character meet and greets. The rides will include four-seater ride Duplo Little Dino Trail, river expedition Explorer River Quest, and rollercoaster Coastersaurus.
