Scores of Costumed Revelers Took Over Carlsbad Village for a Cause
The Carlsbad Creepy Crawl raised over $6,500 for Ripples of Change: The Drake & Kiersty Foundation, a local young-adult cancer nonprofit.
As a morning of peaceful “No Kings” protests concluded in Carlsbad Village, scores of locals took to the streets for another cause, the return of the Carlsbad Creepy Crawl, which took place Saturday afternoon. The Halloween-themed pub crawl – benefitting for Ripples of Change: The Drake & Kiersty Foundation – paraded more than 70 costumed revelers to participating hotspots: Boar Cross’n, Pure Project, Crackheads and Docent Brewing.
With a silent auction, raffle and other opportunities to donate, the event raised over $6,500 for the nonprofit’s ROC Your Room program, which brings comfort and positivity to young–adult cancer patients receiving treatment in San Diego hospitals.
“We are thrilled and so very thankful to everyone who came out to support our cause,” said Deborah Brada-Pitts, who created Ripples of Change: The Drake & Kiersty Foundation after losing both of her young-adult children. “Our family spent a lot of time at the hospital and found it to be a cold, sterile and often intimidating setting, so we would always decorate our son’s room like he was on a beach vacation. This is what inspired our ROC Your Room boxes, which help patients take back their space by creating a happier and more healing environment.”
