COMMUTER ALERT: 2 Lanes Closed on San Mateo-Hayward Bridge for Repairs

The closure is to allow maintenance crews to attach additional bolts to a metal plate on the bridge deck, according to Caltrans.

Two westbound lanes on the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge will be closed until this afternoon because of work on a metal plate installed on the bridge deck last week, Caltrans officials said.

The lane closures near the high-rise section of the bridge began around 10 a.m. and are expected to remain in place until about 2 p.m. to allow maintenance crews to attach additional bolts to the metal plate,
according to Caltrans.

The plate was installed last week over a pothole that had opened up on the roadway, Caltrans officials said.
