HAYWARD, CA — The Hayward Police Department has opened a substation inside Southland Mall.

"We’re proud to announce the opening of our new substation at Southland Mall," the police department said on Facebook. "This facility marks an important step in enhancing public safety and providing a convenient workspace for our officers to author reports, collaborate, and stay actively engaged with the community."

Southland Mall showed their appreciation for the extra security by donating $2,000 in gift cards to the police department's annual Holiday Toy Drive.
