Report: San Jose Motorcyclist Killed in I-580 Crash with Union City Motorist

Victim in Thursday crash identified.

CASTRO VALLEY — The motorcyclist killed in a crash on I-580 Thursday evening was a San Jose man, according to news reports.

The victim was Laurence Findley, 50. He was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson westbound near Redwood Road when he lost control at about 4:40 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Findley was seen lying in the far left lane after being struck by a white 1995 Chevy Tahoe driven by 44-year-old Cedric Houston, according the CHP incident report online.

Houston is from Union City, according to a report on insidebayarea.com.

Houston and his passenger, Collie Robinson, 71, were not hurt in the crash, according to the official CHP report.

The CHP is still trying to determine how fast Findley was traveling at the time of the crash. The Chevy Tahoe was traveling at 60 to 65 mph, according to the CHP report.

At least two lanes were closed at one point after the crash. At around 6:50 p.m., traffic was moving at speeds of 10 to 15 mph, according to KCBS.

The California Highway Patrol is still investigating this collision.
