Retired Culver City Cop Remembered After Fatal Crash

CULVER CITY — Culver City Police Department commemorated the life of Retired Sgt. Larry Moroso at a service on Monday, the department announced via social media.

Moroso died on June 25, after he was struck by a van the previous day while riding home on his motorcycle, the department said.

“Sgt. Moroso will be greatly missed by all his family, friends and the Culver City Police Department,” the post reads.

Moroso served the City of Culver City for 32 years, then retired in 2009, the department posted. He began his career with the department as a community service officer in 1978, became a police officer in 1979 and was promoted to police sergeant in 1990.

Moroso worked a variety of assignments throughout his career and his favorite was as a motor sergeant, his last assignment.

Moroso was recognized with hundreds of commendations from his supervisors and the public for outstanding service to the community. He also received the Distinguished Service Medal for his work.

The department said Moroso loved traveling, being with friends and family, and riding his motorcycle. Moroso is survived by his wife and son.
