1 Critically Injured In Larkfield Bar Fight: Cops

The brief fight involved five or six people and the injured man appeared to be fine—but he later collapsed on the floor of a friend's home.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A Windsor man is in critical condition at a San Francisco hospital
after he was injured in a bar fight that lasted about 20 seconds, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said Monday. The 29-year-old victim was punched by someone on the side of his face and neck late Friday night at the Final Edition Bar & Grill in Larkfield north of Santa Rosa, Sgt. Spencer Crum said.

The brief fight involved five or six people and the injured Windsor man appeared to be fine. He stayed until the bar closed at 1:30 a.m., then went to a friend's home in Windsor around 2 a.m. and collapsed on the floor, Crum said.

He was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital but was transferred to a hospital in San Francisco, where he was treated for a life-threatening injury that caused a lack of blood to his brain, Crum said.

The hospital called the sheriff's office Saturday afternoon, and on Sunday afternoon detectives met with the man who punched the victim, Crum said.

Detectives arrested the suspect, identified as Juan Martinez, 36, of Santa Rosa, on suspicion of felony battery causing serious bodily injury and assault with force likely to cause great bodily injury. Martinez was booked into Sonoma County Jail but has posted bail.
