HEALDSBURG, CA — That moment when you know you're almost home. It's a feeling we all get, especially after being gone for an extended time.

"I know I’m almost home crossing Lambert Bridge," Patch reader Melinda Pressler wrote. "I love our bridge on Lambert Road in Healdsburg."

The historic bridge, north and west of the city of Healdsburg, crosses Dry Creek. The first bridge at the crossing was built in the 1880s, and the current steel truss bridge was built in 1915.

The bridge's namesake is Charles Lee Lambert, a pioneer settler who owned the land on which it was built.
