Lake County Gunman Who Fired At CHP, Caltrans Workers In Custody: Sheriff

The man, identified as Joshua "Buck" Brown, 43, of Kelseyville was taken into custody after an hours long search, the sheriff's office said.

KELSEYVILLE, CA — Authorities have captured a man who they say fired shots towards Caltrans workers and officers with the California Highway Patrol Monday morning leading to an hours long manhunt, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said.

The man, identified as Joshua "Buck" Brown, 43, of Kelseyville fired two shots in the direction of Caltrans employees conducting road work in Kelseyville around 10:30 a.m., the sheriff's office said. CHP officers assisting the workers were also in the path of where the shots were fired.

The sheriff's office responded to the scene at around 10:45 a.m. and shortly afterwards Brown allegedly fired another shot towards the officer's direction. Around 10:52 a.m., the sheriff's office said Brown fired two additional shots at a state parks officer who was at a neighboring residence assisting with the perimeter.

Brown then fled on foot, the sheriff's office said. A perimeter was established and several agencies from the surrounding area responded to assist the Lake County Sheriff's office.

At around 5 p.m., Brown was located and taken into custody. All road closures were expected to be lifted within the hour.
