• HBG Crews Remove Plaza Oak, Restore Holiday Tree (patch.com) — Storm winds damaged an oak in Healdsburg Plaza and briefly threatened the city’s holiday tree, but crews removed the unsafe tree and restored the lights so it can shine through the season. Additional downed oaks blocked streets near University and Lincoln and at Chablis and Chiquita, and residents are urged to report non-emergency flooding, tree issues, and outages to the city’s 24/7 utility hotline.
   

• Where to Go Whale Watching on the Sonoma Coast (pressdemocrat.com) — If you’re up for a coastal day trip, several Sonoma Coast spots—from Gualala Point and Sea Ranch to Stillwater Cove and Bodega Head—offer great chances to see migrating gray whales. A Healdsburg-based whale watch volunteer is even among those helping visitors spot spouts at Bodega Head during peak season from January through May.
