McCabe Fire Spreads Near Geysers; Evacuations Ordered

The fire is about 10 miles outside of Geyserville.

A wildfire near the Geysers in Sonoma County has spread to 500 acres and prompted the evacuation of residents and businesses in the area Friday morning, according to Cal Fire officials.

The McCabe Fire was reported at 2:04 a.m. about 10 miles northeast of Geyserville, according to Cal Fire.

Evacuations have been ordered in the Geysers area along Geysers Road near Colverdale and Healdsberg, a Cal Fire official said.

A fire official said homes and ranches scattered throughout the area are threatened by the flames.

As of mid-morning, the blaze had reached one of the power plants at the Geysers, a geothermal area.

The blaze is only 10 percent contained, fire officials said.
