Redwood Bluegrass Associates Kick off Series
- Who: Listen to masters of bluegrass Audie Blaylock and Redline stalwarts Patrick McAvinue (fiddle, vocals), Russ Carson (banjo, vocals) and Shawn Wallace (bass, vocals).
- What: This is part of the Winter/Spring 2013 of the Mountain View-based Redwood Bluegrass Associates.

- When: Saturday, Jan. 19; pre-show at 5 p.m.; Showtime: 7:30 p.m.

'Somewhere,' here on the West Side (Story)
- Who: Tony Award-winning actress Priscilla Lopez of A Night in the Ukraine (Tony Award, Best Featured Actress) and In the Heights (Best Musical 2008) and New York City Ballet principal dancer Michael Rosen featured as "Chino" in the 2009 Broadway Revival of West Side Story, and was a principal dancer in Peter Martin’s The Sleeping Beauty, George Balanchine’s Harlequinade, and the Jerome Robbins Celebration at New York City Ballet.
- What: Somewhere, a new TheatreWorks production, about a Puerto Rican family of artists in New York who hope to follow their dreams, but doubt gets in the way.
- Where: Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts
- When: Wednesday, Jan. 16 until Sunday, Feb. 10.

Peninsula Youth Theatre Presents "Many Moons"

- Who: Student members of the Peninsula Youth Theatre
- What: Watch PYT cast perform this play adapted from the book by James Thurber. "None of the king's ministers can figure out what the princess is longing for. How lucky the jester knows which questions to ask!"
- Where: Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts
- When: Saturday, Jan. 19 at both 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m.
- Price: $10
South Bay Teen Idol Audtions
- Who: Auditions for the second annual South Bay Teen Idol competition
- What: The American-Idol-style singing competition is open to teens in grades eighth through 12th in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. Entrants don’t have to be Jewish. A total of 20 teen vocalists will be selected to compete in the semi-finals in February, and then 10 will be selected to compete at the finals in April. The winner gets a $2,500 prize and money for their school. There are also second- and third-place prizes.
- Where: Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center, 14855 Oka Rd., in Los Gatos
- When: Sunday, Jan. 20 at the Doors open at 7:30 a.m., auditions are 9 a.m. to Noon.
