Public Invited To Observe All Phases Of Napa County Nov. 5 Election

NAPA COUNTY, CA —The Napa County Election Division invites the public, media, members of the Grand Jury, political party organizations and anyone interested in the election process to observe all aspects of the Nov. 5, 2024, Presidential Election starting Sept. 30 with logic and accuracy testing.

“We welcome observers to this fundamental cornerstone of our democratic process,” said Napa County Registrar of Voters John Tuteur. “Observers protect the integrity of our elections and we want people to come witness the electoral process first-hand.”

As there are several opportunities to observe the election process, here are some key dates:

  • Sept. 30: Logic and accuracy testing of the ballot tabulation equipment began at 10 a.m. at the Napa County Election Division central office (1127 1st Street., Ste. E in Napa).
  • Oct. 18: Vote-by-mail ballot processing starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Napa County Election Division
  • Oct. 26: Counting of ballots begins at 9 a.m. and continues through Election Day on Nov. 5 at the Napa County Election Division central office. Results from processed vote-by-mail ballots will be available shortly after 8 p.m. on Election Day. Counting will resume on Friday, Nov. 8 and continue through certification of the election.

Starting at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 26 through Election Day, observers are welcome at the vote centers located at the Election Division central office and the Holiday Inn Express in American Canyon (5001 Main St.).

Beginning on Nov. 2 at 8:30 a.m. through Election Day, observers are welcome at the other voting centers.

All processing and counting will take place at the Napa County Election Division central office. Parking is available on the top floor of the 2nd St. parking garage (1100 2nd St.) with direct entry to election offices.

The random draw for the one percent manual tally precincts required under the California Election Code will be done at 8 p.m. Nov. 5. The one percent manual tally will begin on Nov. 18 at 8:30 a.m. and continue until certification of the election. Pursuant to California election law, the Registrar of Voters has 30 days after the election to certify the election results.
