Shooting Investigation Continues In Napa

Police issued another alert asking the public to continue to avoid the area where the shooting took place.

NAPA, CA — Officers with the Napa Police Department reopened Kennedy Park where, hours earlier, a suspect in a double homicide tried to outrun officers.

In an initial message to the community at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, police asked the public to avoid the area near the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue.

"Officers are on scene investigating a shooting," police said in an email alert. "... There is no ongoing threat to the community."

In a follow-up email at 5:05 p.m., police said the public should continue to avoid "Kennedy Park on the 700 block of Lincoln Ave. due to an ongoing police investigation and activity."

Shortly before 9 p.m., Napa PD said the police activity at Kennedy Park and Lincoln Avenue was cleared, and the area was reopened to the public.
