Berlin Activates Local Cooling Centers
High heat and humidity have prompted the Town of Berlin this week to activate cooling centers for folks seeking relief.

BERLIN, CT — With the state implementing hot weather protocols, the Town of Berlin Tuesday announced it is doing so as well, opening up multiple cooling centers.

Gov. Ned Lamont has activated extreme hot weather protocols beginning Tuesday afternoon, July 15, through Thursday, July 17.
Cooling Centers throughout the state will be activated and can be found by dialing 2-HotWeather nf1-1 or by visiting www.211ct.org.

It is important to know the risks and treatment for heat-related illnesses, and to stay cool and hydrated, wrote Berlin officials.
"Check on your neighbors, especially if they are older or have a disability," wrote the town in an announcement.
During the heat wave, residents are welcome to stop in and cool off at the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library, Berlin Community Center, or the Berlin Senior Center during normal business hours.
Berlin's cooling center hours are:
Berlin-Peck Memorial Library: 234 Kensington Road, Berlin.
- Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Berlin Community Center: 230 Kensington Road, Berlin.
· Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.
· Friday 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Berlin Senior Center: 33 Colonial Drive, Berlin.
- Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
