Berlin Seeks Town's Top Gingerbread House
The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library this week is collecting entries for its 15th annual Gingerbread House Contest for the holidays.
BERLIN, CT — The Berlin-Peck Memorial Libraryis embarking on a very important holiday task — determining who in town can build the best gingerbread house.
This is the final week members of the community can drop off their gingerbread houses before judges get to work next week figuring out who is best.
All gingerbread houses must be dropped off at the library, located at 234 Kensington Road, Berlin, by Saturday, Dec. 14, for the library's 15th annual Gingerbread House Contest.

Next week from Monday, Dec. 16, to Friday, Dec. 20, judges — more specifically library visitors — will be able to peruse the many gingerbread creations and pick their favorites.
"There's still time," wrote the library. "All ages are encouraged to participate in our annual Gingerbread House Contest and, yes, store-bought kits are allowed."

The guidelines are simple, namely, all materials must be edible and the bases for the projects cannot exceed 24-inches-by-24-inches.
Also, no electricity is allowed (no batteries either).
There are two categories of gingerbread houses (child and adult).
The winner will be announced on Saturday, Dec. 21, with folks able to pick up their gingerbread houses that day or on Monday, Dec. 23.
