Extreme Heat Alert Issued In Berlin, Shelters To Open

With a major heat wave expected to strike Sunday, June 22, Berlin officials have announced their extreme heat protocols.

BERLIN, CT — Local officials have enacted severe hot weather protocols, which start Sunday, June 22, as the area is expected to experience its first major heat wave of 2025.

Berlin officials said residents are welcome to stop in and keep cool at the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library, 234 Kensington Road; the Berlin Community Center, 230 Kensington Road; or the Berlin Senior Center, 33 Colonial Drive, during normal business hours.

The library is open Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The community center is open Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

The senior center is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
