Busy Farmington Roadway Closed After Incident, Traffic Is Heavy: UPDATE

FARMINGTON, CT — A busy section of roadway in Farmington remains closed due to a telephone pole coming down on Tuesday morning.

According to the state Department of Transportation, Route 6 (Colt Highway) is closed at the Colt Highway cutoff because of a downed pole with wires involved.

The incident was first reported at 9:50 a.m., and it is "unknown" when the scene will be cleared.

The Farmington Police Department said via Facebook that Route 6 was closed between the intersections of Scott Swamp Road and Pinnacle Road.

By mid-Tuesday afternoon, the Town of Farmington was urging motorists to avoid the area if possible.

The town said traffic was heavy on Reservoir Road, Mountain Road, and Main Street.

"Thank you for your patience as utility crews work to address the situation and keep everyone moving safely," wrote the Town of Farmington.
