Local Author Launches Inspiring New Children's Book on Climate Action at Farmington Land Trust Event
Become a climate action hero! "A Kid's Guide to Climate Activism" shows you how small everyday choices can help save our planet.
FARMINGTON, CT — June 10, 2025 — On Sunday, June 8, the Farmington Land Trust hosted the official launch event for A Kid’s Guide to Climate Activism, a new nonfiction book by first-time author Kimberly Haidinger. The joyful celebration brought together over 70 attendees of all ages for an afternoon of nature, creativity, and climate consciousness on the Land Trust’s beautiful open space property at 119 Coppermine Road.
The event featured a variety of engaging, educational activities designed to bring the book’s empowering message to life. Children and families enjoyed a scenic book walk down to the pond, collage art led by 14-year-old illustrator Luna Hansen, outdoor reading time beneath the trees, and hands-on games like sustainable bingo. Attendees also learned more about composting, reducing single-use items, and plant-based eating. Signed copies of the book were available, and Haidinger gave a reading from the guide that inspired thoughtful conversations about personal and collective action for the planet.
