DOT Announces Route 2 Eastbound Lane Modification Work In Glastonbury
A new DOT project is designed to improve lane configurations on Route 2 eastbound.

GLASTONBURY, CT β The Connecticut Department of Transportation Friday announced a project for Route 2 eastbound lane modifications in Glastonbury from Exit 4B (formerly Exit 6) to Exit 6 (formerly Exit 8) starting on April 1.
The project is designed to improve lane configurations on Route 2 eastbound to reduce weaving movements and increase the continuity of traffic flow within the project limits, DOT officials said.
The left exit-only lane for Route 17 (Exit 5 or formerly Exit 7) will be converted into a through lane and Exit 5 will be modified into a standard left-exit ramp. The bridge over Griswold Street will be modified to provide a 3-lane cross section for Route 2 eastbound traffic, with the right most lane designated as an auxiliary lane between the Route 3 on-ramp and the Exit 6 (formerly Exit 8) off-ramp.

Additionally, the bridge over Griswold Street will be widened to eliminate the pinch point for vehicles entering from Route 3 and to create a uniform shoulder.
The project will also include updated signage along Route 2 to reflect the new lane configurations, milling and paving within the project limits, and the "metalizing" of Bridge Nos. 384 and 386.
