Driver In Custody On High Bond After Glastonbury Drunken Driving Crash

GLASTONBURY, CT β€” A 42-year-old Glastonbury woman has been charged with driving under the influence after a weekend head-on crash in town, police said.

The crash took place at 5:11 p.m. Saturday on Main Street at Route 17. Investigators determined the woman was was impaired when the vehicle she was driving entered the southbound lane of Main Street and struck another vehicle head on, while negotiating a left turn from Rte. 17 northbound, according to an arrest report.

No injuries were reported, but both vehicles were towed from the scene with disabling damage, police said. In addition to DUI, the woman was charged with failure to drive upon right and driving while under suspension, according to an arrest report.

Sobriety tests determined the woman's blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit, police said.

Her bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety "due to her prior motor vehicle and criminal convictions, including DUI and driving while under suspension, according to an arrest report. She appeared in Manchester Superior Court Monday and the bond was increased to $150,000. She remained in custody with a scheduled second court date of Jan 17, according to judicial system records.
