In Memoriam: Robert W. Ledder
The former Rocky Hill resident passed away Jan. 7 at the age of 90.

Robert Wheeler Ledder, 90, of Fort Pierce, FL, formerly of Rocky Hill, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Port Saint Lucie Nursing and Restorative Care Center in Port Saint Lucie, FL.
Bob served in the United States Navy, as an Aviation Radioman, from 1943-46. He was formerly employed as a Plumbing Estimator for the Harvey Robbin Company in West Hartford County, and was a former President of Hartford Mechanical Contractors, Inc.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 30 years, Inara M. Ledder of Fort Pierce; one son, Robert Ledder and his wife Susan of West Hartford; step-daughters, Robyn Murphy and Erin Flynn, both of Glastonbury; his grandchildren: Christen Ledder of Atlanta, GA, Brett Ledder and his wife Kristine of Washington, DC, Gary Ledder of New Mexico, Valerie Butler and Daniel Butler, both of Manchester, Connecticut, and Lilith Schoenberg of Glastonbury; and great-grandchildren, Jude and Rose Ledder, Margaret Johnson, Molly Koundry, and Lucas Butler. Bob is also survived by his brother-in-law, Ivars Mazjanis and his wife Roseann of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Winifred Ledder, his son Gary E. Ledder, an infant brother, Herman Ledder, and his sisters, Helen Nevico and Winifred “Dolly” Poisson.

In the years prior to his illness, Bob was an avid golfer and was a former member of the Edgewood Golf Club, Wethersfield Country Club and Rolling Greens Men’s Club in Connecticut. He was also a a former member of BPOE #2308 in Wethersfield-Rocky Hill, and current member of the BPOE #1520 in Fort Pierce, FL and the American Legion Post #358 in Fort Pierce.
Bob enjoyed reading, solving daily crossword puzzles, spending time with family, and socializing with his many friends, who were entertained by his quick wit, jokes, and limericks.
He enjoyed having fun and will be forever missed by his devoted wife, loving family, and dear friends.
A memorial service celebrating Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at the Rocky Hill Congregational Church, 805 Old Main St., Rocky Hill.
