5 From Connecticut Hurt — 4 Seriously — In Massachusetts Crash

RANDOLPH, MA — Five people from Connecticut were injured in a single-vehicle crash on a highway in Massachusetts early Friday morning, one seriously, state police said.

According to a crash report, the five were riding in a 2019 Dodge van heading south near the Interstate 93-Route 1 interchange at 5:43 a.m. Massachusetts State Police said the van had gone over a guardrail.

Randolph fire and EMS personnel, along with a passerby, stopped to assist and began performing emergency medical aid on those inured.

A 23-year-old South Windsor man, who was driving, suffered life-threatening injuries, according to a crash report.

  • A 27-year-old New Britain man
  • A 32-year-old New Britain woman
  • A 29-year-old man listed only as being from Connecticut

The four were transported to Boston Medical Center, according to a crash report.

A fifth occupant, a 30-year-old woman from Vernon, was transported to BMC with minor injuries, a crash report indicates.

The passerby who stopped at the scene was a volunteer firefighter and a dispatcher for Brewster Ambulance.

The occupants of the van are employees of a company that provides inventory services to other businesses, Massachusetts State Police said. They were en route to a job site at the time of the crash, police added.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the State Police-Milton Barracks, State Police Troop H detectives, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.

The crash resulted in the right lane being closed at the scene until 9:30 a.m., police said.
