Apel, Frattallone, Legnani, Wheeler: South Windsor Death Notices

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT —Here are some recent death notices from South Windsor.

Joan (Dresser) Apel, 90, beloved wife of 70 years to George F. Apel, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on March 19, 2025. She was a graduate of Rockville High School, Class of 1953, then attended the University of Connecticut before marrying the love of her life, George, on Dec. 19, 1954, while he was on leave from the Navy. She worked part-time at the lab at Rockville Hospital and then as a paraprofessional in the Vernon school system.

Mary (Wallace) Frattallone, 95, loving wife of the late Pasquale V. Frattallone, passed away at home on March 21, 2025. She earned her degree in Fashion Illustration from the Hartford School of Art, now the University of Hartford. Mary began her working career in the Advertising Department for the Wise & Smith Department Store and continued working for Lord & Taylor in West Hartford. She then was employed with Hartford National Bank for nine years, where she met the love of her life, Pasquale.

Spencer Legnani, 32, of Windsor Locks, passed away unexpectedly at home on March 21, 2025. A 2011 graduate of South Windsor High School, he went on to complete a year of post-graduate studies at Bristol Tech, specializing in welding. In 2024, he completed his master’s degree in engineering from the University of Connecticut. At the time of his death, Spencer was working as a manufacturing engineer at Pratt & Whitney.

Glenna Jo (Wofford) Wheeler, 76, beloved wife of the late Murray Kent Wheeler, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025. She was raised in Fort Worth, Texas and was a graduate of Arlington Heights High School. Glenna earned her undergraduate degree from Mary Harden Baylor College in Belton, Texas. She was employed with the State of Connecticut, Department of Social Services, Home Care Program for the Elderly, a position she held and enjoyed for over 20 years until her retirement in 2006.
