Press release from Susan MacNeil:
UPDATED: Due to a forecast of snow, this program will be re-scheduled in April.
The death of a parent is painful at any age. Susan MacNeil’s new memoir, "18 Minutes: A Daughter’s Primer on Life & Death," chronicles one daughter’s experience during the final 18 minutes of her mother’s life. It is part love letter, part cautionary tale and part instructional manual, reflecting upon the 90-year legacy left behind by her mother while creating an opportunity for activism to honor her mother’s name with the Phones for Patients campaign.

Jean Brady led an extraordinary, ordinary life. Ordinary in the sense that she was a good woman who was devoted to her family. Extraordinary in the sense of her unconditionally pure, loving heart. A mother and wife shaped by the culture of 1950s domesticity, she left a lasting impression upon every person she met, whether it was a Hallmark card in the mail or blueberry muffins. Always ready with a smile, she believed in goodness, not fear.
MacNeil grew up in rural Coventry, Connecticut with her three brothers, a wooded environment that invoked a sense of freedom. She moved to Keene, NH in 1976, living and working in southwestern NH until crossing the Connecticut River for the village of Bellows Falls, Vermont eight years ago. In her role as Executive Director of AIDS Services for the Monadnock Region, MacNeil has been a longtime equality and HIV/AIDS activist who considers herself a servant leader, translating her mother’s daily example of generosity and kindness into every aspect of her professional and volunteer lives.
