Bridge Over Podunk River In South Windsor To Be Replaced

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Beginning Monday, travelers near the southern end of Main Street will be re-routed for the next seven months as the bridge over the Podunk River will be demolished and replaced with a new structure.

Access will be maintained to all properties along the road during construction, which is expected to last until the end of September . A detour around the bridge work area on Main Street will be established using Chapel Road to Route 5 to Burnham Street to King Street and Brook Street.

Motorists are advised to drive slowly and use caution in the area during construction.

"I apologize for the inconvenience this project may cause, and thank you for your patience while this bridge is replaced," Town Engineer Jeffrey Doolittle said.
