South Windsor Man Charged After Massachusetts Pursuit Ends In Crash, Police Say
Police say the driver from Connecticut refused to stop, leading to a pursuit on Monday that ended in a crash.
SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A South Windsor man is facing several charges after police say he sped away from a traffic stop in Massachusetts early Monday, crashed, and was found with fentanyl inside his vehicle.
The incident began around 1:00 a.m. on December 1st, when an officer in Shrewsbury spotted a vehicle on Boston Turnpike that was wanted by police. The same car had refused to stop for a Massachusetts State Police trooper in Worcester about an hour earlier, authorities say.
When officers attempted a traffic stop in Shrewsbury, the driver — later identified as Nicholas Krawiec, 27, of South Windsor — made a sudden illegal U-turn and sped off westbound, according to police.

Officers said the vehicle reached speeds of roughly 70 mph as it fled. The pursuit ended when Krawiec went off the roadway, struck a curb, and blew out two tires. Officers ordered Krawiec out of the vehicle at gunpoint and took him into custody.
During a search of the car, police said they found five bundles containing about 10 grams of fentanyl. Krawiec also admitted to recently using the drug, according to the report.
