As Fall Sports Practices Begin, A Look At South Windsor's Team Title History, 2025 Games

A look at the state title history for South Windsor and Ellsworth high school fall teams, plus schedules for this year's varsity squads.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Monday marked the first day for official workouts for high school fall sports programs across Connecticut, with the exception of golf which began practices last week (full contact is permitted at football practices beginning this weekend). With the coming of the new season comes the hope for success, with the ultimate goal being winning a state championship.

South Windsor High School's seven fall state titles date back to 1949, when the school was known as Ellsworth High School. Here are the state championships won by Bobcat teams in autumns past.

  • boys soccer (3) - L: 1979; S: 1951, 1949
  • girls cross country (2) - L: 1995; LL: 1984
  • boys cross country (1) - L: 1995
  • field hockey (1) - L: 1993
