SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — A motor vehicle rolled over and struck a pole on Route 5 Thursday morning, causing a shutdown of a portion of the roadway by police.

The crash occurred shortly after 10 a.m., and necessitated closure of John Fitch Boulevard south of Sullivan Avenue on the southbound side, and north of Strong Road on the northbound side, police said.

Police advised motorists to avoid the area if possible.
