VERNON, CT — A South Windsor man was killed in a crash in Vernon Wednesday night involving a moped and car, police said.

The crash took place at 7:47 p.m. near the intersection of Hartford Turnpike and Dobson Road, police said.

When they arrived at the scene, officers found a man lying on the pavement on Hartford Turnpike, according to an incident report. Vernon EMS and fire crews administered care to the man, but he died from injuries sustained from the crash, according to an incident report.

The moped he was driving had collided with a car and the 71-year-old Vernon woman who was driving the other vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police in the investigation, according to an incident report.

The operator of the moped was identified Thursday as Luis Rodrigues, 34, of South
Windsor.

Vernon Police and Metro Traffic Services are investigating the crash and no charges have been filed.
