This Week in South Windsor: MLK Day, Town Council, BIG and Support South Windsor Schools PAC
Things going on in town in the upcoming week.

Good morning, South Windsor. Welcome to a new week and today, to a moment of reflection on a man whose life changed our country and changed us. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gives us hope and inspiration to live courageously, not taking the status quo for granted but challenging it to care for humanity.
As is the case with most holidays, a slew of public officials have sent out statements on the holiday. Today, Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman offers some nice sentiments:
“Dr. King’s conviction that each of us should do whatever we can to empower people and strengthen our communities is particularly relevant today as we try to create a new roadmap of opportunity for everyone. As Dr. King said, ‘Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable. Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle - the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.’ I think the greatest thing we can do to honor Dr. King is to try every day to be passionate and dedicated to achieving the equality that he spoke about – and dreamed about.”
On that note, know today that:
1. Town Hall and South Windsor Public Schools are closed in observance of the holiday. Trash collection is on its regular schedule.
2. The Town Council meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. A number of items are on the meeting agenda, including extending the CT Studios reverter clause deadline, the offer of a tax assessment agreement for Sullivan Place, the Water Pollution Control Authority and the Ambulance Service of Manchester. See the full agenda here.
3. The women's networking group, BIG, is launching a South Windsor/Manchester group on Wednesday. More information is here.
