Tropical Storm Isaias Wreaks Havoc In South Windsor [PHOTOS]

A powerful storm late Tuesday afternoon left nearly 5,000 homes without electricity in South Windsor.

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT — Arborists, landscapers, tree trimmers and stump grinders were out in full force Wednesday morning throughout South Windsor, as residents began the process of cleaning up after Tropical Storm Isaias caused a path of destruction late Tuesday afternoon.

Numerous trees had fallen - some onto power lines and utility wires - and storm debris was visible at every turn. A total of 4,847 Eversource Energy customers in South Windsor, or 39.56 percent, were without power as of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

By its 4 p.m. update, Eversource reported 4,755 customers, or 38.81 percent, still down in South Windsor. Across Connecticut, 615,994 Eversource customers, or 48.08 percent, still had no electricity.
