2 New Restaurants Added To DC Michelin Guide
The District also has a new Green Star restaurant, a distinction given to eateries that excel at sustainable gastronomy.
WASHINGTON, DC — Two new restaurants have been added to the Washington, D.C. Michelin Guide, the publication announced Sunday. The District also has a new Green Star restaurant, a distinction given to eateries that excel at sustainable efforts.
New One Stars included in the guide are Latin American restaurant Mita, located in the Shaw neighborhood in Northwest D.C., and sushi restaurant Omakase at Barracks Row.
The new additions join 24 other eateries included in the Guide.

What Michelin inspectors had to say: "Latin American cuisine, only plant-based. That's the premise behind this contemporary space set in the Shaw neighborhood. It's tasting menu only, but short and long formats ensure a fit. Chefs Tatiana Mora and Miguel Guerra share their creative spirit here, where influences span from Brazil and Bolivia to Colombia and dishes sport originality."
Omakase at Barracks Row, 522 8th St. SE
What Michelin inspectors had to say: "Chef Yi 'Ricky' Wang, who trained under Chef Nakazawa before running a series of pop-ups, is now settled in at this counter, located up a set of metal stairs in an industrial-chic space. Chef Wang's omakase features a few otsumami, perhaps poached sweet shrimp in a smoked Maine uni sauce, before progressing to nigiri. It's all impressive."
Earning the Green Star nod was Oyster Oyster, a vegan and vegetarian restaurant located at 1440 8th St. NW.
In an April feature on Oyster Oyster, Michelin editors wrote, "You’ve likely heard of turning water into wine, but what about wine (bottles) into sand? Chef Rob Rubba of Washington, D.C.’s Oyster Oyster is doing just that, then repurposing it into plates for his largely vegetarian-tasting menu. It’s just one of the ways that this enterprising chef shows his commitment to sustainability."
