BEGINNINGS Art Exhibit

"VB Contemporary" a new online gallery just launched its inauguration exhibition titled "BEGINNINGS" presenting the works of talented and accomplished artists.

The gallery is pleased to debut its first virtual exhibition for the month of February 2024 with a stellar number of artists and visionaries for its first "BEGINNINGS" art show. The group exhibition features the works of accomplished and very gifted artists and photographers from the DC area and world-wide such as: the DMV area, Washington DC, New York City, Los Angeles, London, Germany and South Korea. The artists' artwork embodies a strong vision and a skilled handling of their medium. The artwork presented in the exhibition are expressive and full of meaning from photos of the of the urban scene, to street photography that captures the city's energy and luminous lights, text art the brings together digital photos mixed with poetry, paintings full of color and gestural energy, surrealistic renderings of works form imagination and the still-life, figurative work that engages the audience in a visual narrative, and abstractions that dive deep into layers of meaning while other works aims to capture the fleeting moments of time.

The exhibition skillfully brings these exquisite elements into an ensemble of an entity of a show.

About the Concept: Beginnings are sometimes difficult to embark upon, but they need to be done to move forward. Once that first step has been taken, the flow starts and the rest is history.

The mission and vision of "VB Contemporary" is to help foster and discover talented artists nationally and world-wide along presenting their vision to the world through its cultural platform with intent to create a flourishing cultural community with emphasis on quality over quantity. The artists within the group exhibition present varying approaches to their subject matters, here is gist of what some of them explore within their art practice.

Aaron Lelito a writer / poet and a photographer states, "This subject matter has become a way for me to reflect on the larger themes of environment, climate, and ecology. Along with this macro view, however, there is the micro—one's personal, subjective relationship with nature. There are restorative, therapeutic, and transcendent aspects of interacting with the waves, flowing water, leaves, and branches."

Karen Ghostlaw states that she "explores the archaeology of a reflection with its complicated layers to be her playground for exploration and discovery."

Vian Borchert states that her work in the exhibition especially Rolling Blue Moon "emphasizes on the dreamy aspect of the theme while allowing the painter within to come forth."

Johnny Otto states, "Do the work. I work late so I am not an early riser but once I am up, I just jump into work mode. I know that I have limited time on this earth and I don't want to waste any of it. My days, if not spent painting, are spent writing or planning events."

With its first exhibit underway, the next show will focus on the theme of Reflection in its upcoming "REFLECTIVE" exhibit. An art call is now open for submission for "Reflective".

The Reflective concept is open for interpretation by the artist. Artists are encouraged to send their best works that encompass reflection and a reflective mood, be it an abstract work or a reflection photograph, or the concept of reflection playing a role in the image's significance.
