Biker Killed By Bus While Stuck In DC Streetcar Rail Tracks

A DC man was killed after his bike tire got caught on the H Street Streetcar rail tracks, causing him to fall into the path of a bus.

WASHINGTON, DC — A 19-year-old DC man was killed after his bike tire got caught on the H Street Streetcar rail tracks, causing him to fall into the path of a bus, police said.

Malik Habib, of Northeast, was riding his bike at about 9:35 p.m. Saturday in the street car lane in the 300 block of H St., NE.

Habib's tire got caught in the street car rail and he fell into the path of a charter bus, police said.

DC Fire and EMS transported Habib to a local hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police have not yet said whether the bus driver will face charges.

Habib was a John Campe High School football player before he graduated, NBC Washington reports.

The team posted on Twitter: "The Champe Football family lost a great person last night. You will be loved and missed Malik. Prayers for his mom and brother."
