For the month of February, the month of love and Valentine's Day, fall in love with art!

Or, take a date to see some lovely art by noted artist, Vian Borchert, in the historic Arts Club of Washington DC.

The artwork around 20 by distinguished artist, V. Borchert, at the Monroe gallery within the Arts Club present the embodiment of enlightenment and elevation towards a blue sky where white clouds play and dance, stretching the abstracted landscape into a transcendental experience and towards a higher realm. The paintings form medium to large executed in the acrylic on canvas medium showcase the long career of this seasoned artist. The exhibition is curated by art historian Dr. Erich Keel of the Kreeger Museum in DC. On Feb 2 at the opening reception, Dr. Keel presented his speech on his curation choices where he stated that, "the style of her art is expressionist. What characterizes Vian's approach is that her art inhabits a space between figuration and abstraction. Certainly one of the interesting qualities of her paintings." Moreover, about color and especially Borchert's favorite color of choice blue, Dr. Keel exclaimed that Borchert "self-imposed limitations which is of course not absolute opens the doors to let her fully explore the color in all its breath and depth: warm vs. cool blues, light vs. dark blues, blues veering towards red, others towards green. Blues that are the intense vivid pure vs. blues that have been blended with white, gray or black - I could imagine an artist spending a lifetime exploring a color."

In a series titled "Enlightenment", Borchert states that she is an expressionist artist who describes her artwork as a form of visual poetry. Borchert believes that art is a connecting force of good that goes beyond borders, instituting that art is a form of universal language by which all comprehend. In her work, the artist seeks to connect with people through her visual world aspiring for the world to come together through the arts. Nature plays a huge part in Borchert's artistic journey. She is an avid nature lover where contemplating upon nature helps her reach inner peace and attain moments of Zen. Borchert seeks through her work to celebrate her love for nature and the environment while highlighting the importance of nature in one's lives. The artwork aspires to be a bridge that intersects the connectivity of art and the environment accentuating the significance of living with nature and its benefits on humans. Her work captures the essence of time, movement and memory in a lyrical way. Hence, Borchert's art aims to bring a meditative sentiment in a poetic way in the hopes of transcending the viewer to a higher realm where calm, peace and harmony align. Moreover, besides being a multifaceted artist, Vian describes herself as a "Lightworker". The artist voices that she is "here to find the light be it in my art, but also mainly in my life. I am always heading towards the light even if it is at the end of the tunnel. The light guides my vision and my mission in this life. Through my art, I aspire for this light to come through and be a source of inspiration and joy. Hence, I desire for my art to be a source of enlightenment to those who view it bringing hope and rejuvenation to the soul."
