"In this cafe, with its clean lines and glass facade, your morning cup becomes a focal point in your day (or the eye of a storm, depending upon your schedule)," a release from Blue Bottle says. "But regardless of what awaits you outside, we created the Wharf to be a place of respite."

Blue Bottle will host a Community Day on Saturday before the grand opening Sunday. On Saturday, residents can enjoy a coffee on the house. Food and merchandise will also be available for purchase.

All sales on Saturday will go to the cafe’s community partner, charity: water, a nonprofit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing countries.

Guests can also support charity: water by providing donations directly to the organization upon purchases at any Blue Bottle cafe in DC.

Blue Bottle Coffee was founded by James Freeman in Oakland, California, in 2002 and quickly gained a cult following around the Bay Area. It's now expanded across California, has locations in New York and Japan and plans to open cafes in Miami to Boston.

The cafe's hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day.
