‘Conversations on Health Care’: 16 Years of Interviewing Health Policy Leaders

The program builds on its pledge to be 'Always Groundbreaking, Always Grounded'

Conversations on Health Care,” which presents a broad range of health care perspectives, is marking 16 years of success sharing those views through its nationally syndicated interview program.

To mark the occasion, “Conversations on Health Care” invited back its first guests, including Speaker Emerita of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi. She said that if she “ruled the world,” she would “carpet the country with community health centers.”

The other returning guest is Dr. Mitchell Katz, now serving as CEO and President of New York City Health + Hospitals. Katz said since his initial time on the program in 2009, “the big successes [from the Affordable Care Act] are getting people involved in primary care and chronic disease management…those primary care relationships are incredibly healing.”

Hosts Mark Masselli and Margaret Flinter also welcome experts with differing opinions, such as Stephanie Carlton, the deputy administrator and chief of staff at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for the Trump Administration; James Capretta, senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute; and Wayne Winegarden, Ph.D., the senior fellow in business and economics at Pacific Research Institute.

Masselli says, “‘Conversations on Health Care’ has shown that no one person or side has all the answers to the complex and entrenched issues facing the American health care system. Indeed, we’re proud that we demonstrate that probing questions and open dialogue are the best antidote to some of our biggest challenges. We look forward to even more stimulating topics in the months and years ahead.”
