DC-Area Chick-Fil-A Restaurants Rank Third In Meal Donations

As part of the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, restaurant operators in the D.C. area have donated more than 360,000 meals to fight hunger.

DC/NORTHERN VIRGINIA — As part of the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, restaurant operators in the Washington, D.C. area have donated more than 360,000 meals to fight hunger in the region since the program began in 2012.

More than 1,200 Chick-fil-A restaurants across the nation are participating in the program. Earlier this month, Chick-fil-A restaurants in the U.S. passed the milestone of donating 10 million meals to people in need.

The D.C. area currently ranks third in the number of meals donated to people in need. The region has contributed 360,000 meals since the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program began in 2012.

The Dallas area is No. 1, with 429,000 meals donated through its 53 participating restaurants followed by the Philadelphia area, with 417,000 meals donated to people experiencing hunger.

In partnership with Food Donation Connection, the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program matches Chick-fil-A restaurants with local shelters, soup kitchens and nonprofits. Once matched, restaurants regularly package surplus food for partner organizations to pick up and distribute to those in need.

In some areas of the nation, about 80 percent of surplus food in Chick-fil-A restaurants is distributed through the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program.

In addition to the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, Chick-fil-A has an established partnership with Feeding America. In honor of each new restaurant opening, Chick-fil-A donates $25,000 to Feeding America.

Since the Feeding America partnership began in 2020, Chick-fil-A has contributed $6 million to advance Feeding America’s mission of ensuring equitable access to nutritious food.
