OpenTable's list includes restaurants from 14 states and Washington, DC. Ten of them are Southern states, but non-traditional places like New York, Philadelphia and Illinois grabbed spots on the list too.

The rankings are based on 12 million OpenTable reviews for over 27,000 restaurants in 50 states and DC. Restaurants in the Southern food category with qualifying reviews were eligible for the ranking. The restaurants' food ratings determined the ranking order.
