GWU Students Moved From Campus Townhouses Because Of Water Leak

Several George Washington University students went to the hospital and 175 students were told to leave their residences due to a water leak.

WASHINGTON, DC — Several George Washington University students went to the hospital and about 175 students were told to leave their residences in Foggy Bottom Sunday night after possible mold was found in their townhouses, according to reports.

All students living in the residence halls will be moved to hotels for at least two to three weeks out of an abundance of caution, GWU said in an email to students.

After a report of "environmental concerns," inspectors found "evidence of water infiltration,” the email said, according to WJLA.

Students told WJLA that several fellow students living in the townhouses went to the hospital due to breathing problems and chest pains. Each of the students who went to the hospital tested negative to COVID-19, the students told WJLA.

School officials said the students who needed to evacuate live in connected townhouses on 23rd Street NW, according to a FOX5 DC report.
