Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For NoVA, DC
Thunderstorms are expected across DC and northern Virginia to start the week, and some could be severe. See the latest forecast.
WASHINGTON, DC — A hazardous weather outlook has been issued for parts of northern Virginia and the District of Columbia on Sunday, with the National Weather Service forecast calling for severe thunderstorms that could bring winds or large hail, along with flooding.
Areas included in the outlook are: DC, Prince William, Manassas, Manassas Park, Fairfax, Arlington, Falls Church, Alexandria, Stafford, Spotsylvania and King George.
The hazardous weather outlook is for the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay, Tidal Potomac River, and I-95 corridor through central Maryland, northern Virginia, and District of Columbia.

"Isolated severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts or large hail is possible late this afternoon and evening," the weather service said. "An isolated instance of flooding is also possible during this time."
Scattered to numerous severe thunderstorms are possible Monday afternoon and evening. Damaging winds are the primary threat, but large hail and isolated tornadoes are possible as well, forecasters said.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has placed the Baltimore-DC region in a level 3 out of 5 “enhanced” risk of severe thunderstorms on Monday.
“Locally damaging winds and some hail will be the primary severe risks, though a tornado or two will also be possible during the afternoon,” the Storm Prediction Center said.
Storms on Monday are most likely from mid-afternoon to early evening, according to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang.
"High-resolution models suggest storms could be in the vicinity of the Beltway around 4 p.m. pushing toward Southern Maryland and the eastern shore around 6 p.m, although this timing could shift," the Post said.

Sunday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 11pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. South wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 83. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Monday Night: Showers likely before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 57. West wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 78. West wind 6 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 53.
Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 75.
