Wind Gusts Of Up To 50 MPH Are Expected For DC, NoVA From Thursday Night To Friday Morning
Residents should take precautions as heavy winds are expected to pass through the Washington, D.C. metro area late Thursday and into Friday.
WASHINGTON, DC — Residents of Washington, D.C., as well as suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia, still have time to tie down their patio furniture before high winds sweep through the region on Thursday night.
National Weather Service issued wind advisory that will be in effect from 10 p.m. on Thursday to 10 a.m. on Friday. Residents of D.C., Virginia and parts of Maryland can expect winds of 20 t0 30 mph moving south to southwest through the region. Gusts of up to 50 mph are also expected.
After 3 a.m. on Friday, winds will begin heading toward the northwest, as they follow a cold front that is expected to bring lower temperatures to the region, according to NWS.

The public is warned to use caution while driving during heavy winds and secure any loose items that may be taken away by a sudden gust. High winds may also bring down trees and power lines.
