How Do You Take Control of Your Subconscious and Harness Its Power?

Washingtonians gather at an interactive event to uncover how hidden mental forces shape choices, emotions, and everyday life.

Washington, D.C. – September 16, 2025 – “I know I shouldn’t, but I can’t help myself.” “I know I should, but I just don’t have the guts.”

Nearly every seat at a recent seminar at the Founding Church of Scientology of Washington, D.C. was filled with people who have had thoughts like these. They had come to take a closer look at the part of the mind we seldom see but always feel: the subconscious.

For centuries, philosophers and scientists have tried to map this invisible territory. Plato wrote of knowledge existing beyond awareness; Leibniz described tiny perceptions shaping our lives; Freud made the unconscious a cornerstone of psychology. Yet the question lingers: How do we actually gain awareness of what’s hidden, and take control of it?

That question framed the evening’s program, “The Power of the Subconscious Mind.” The speaker broke down ideas that can feel abstract — what the subconscious is, why it produces unwanted emotions, how much “pressure” it can exert on a person — into clear, practical explanations. The session wasn’t a passive lecture; audience members asked questions throughout, sharing their own experiences of stress, doubt and inner conflict.

Drawing on methods developed by L. Ron Hubbard, the presentation offered ways to recognize and manage subconscious influences rather than be ruled by them. Participants described feeling a new sense of clarity about how their minds work.

Another session of “The Power of the Subconscious Mind” is planned at the Founding Church of Scientology, 1424 16th St NW, Washington, D.C. It’s free to the public, includes a complimentary lunch, and metered street parking is available. Space is limited and advance registration is encouraged at The Power of the Subconscious Mind Seminar

By weaving together centuries of inquiry and hands-on discussion, the program is part of a growing local interest in understanding the unseen forces shaping human behavior — and in learning how to use that knowledge to live with greater confidence and purpose.
