Kennedy Center Targeted By Bomb Threat, Police Investigating
A spokesperson confirmed the Kennedy Center was evacuated Thursday following the threat.
WASHINGTON, DC — The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts was evacuated Thursday after the venue received a bomb threat, a spokesperson confirmed to Patch.
In a statement, the spokesperson said the threat targeted Shen Yun performances, which are scheduled to start at the Kennedy Center on Thursday.
"Security acted swiftly, following existing protocols," the spokesperson said.

According to a WUSA9 report, Metropolitan police received a 911 call reporting the bomb threat shortly before 10:45 a.m.
U.S. Park Police took over the investigation but have not released additional details.

Police activity shut down Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway in both directions between Virginia Avenue and Parkway Drive Northwest. Virginia Avenue westbound at 27th Street Northwest was also blocked. Motorists should expect delays.
