Maydan Makes Bon Appetit’s 'Hot 10' Best New Restaurant List
Bon Appétit Magazine named the DC eatery the country's second best new restaurant of 2018.

WASHINGTON, DC — Bon Appétit Magazine has named DC restaurant Maydan the second best new restaurant in the country in its new "The Hot 10" list, placing it just behind an Oklahoma City restaurant for the top spot.
The highly-anticipated list features the ten "most delicious, exciting and just plain fun places to eat in America right now," according to Bon Appétit.
Fresh off of making Eater's Best New Restaurant List in July, Maydan is gaining praise nationwide for their Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes.

"A maydan brings everyone together over a common emotion. And that is powerful. This goes beyond fire and food - and right into feelings," the restaurant posted on their Instagram page. "We are beyond thankful to be recognized in @bonappetitmag ‘s hot ten for best new restaurants. A huge congratulations to our amazing team, and all of the wonderful company listed with us."
The restaurant opened last November in the U Street area. Everything in the restaurant is cooked on the hearth, located in the middle of all the action.

"We make a flatbread using recipes from all the cultures put together," owner Rose Previte told Bon Appétit. "It's not naan, it's not pita — our bread is unique; nobody else does it like we do. To me it's the culmination. It's symbolic, the breaking of bread, in this place where people can come together as equals."
The last time a DC restaurant placed on the Hot Ten List was in 2016, when Bad Saint also landed the No. 2 spot.
