National Christmas Tree Lighting: Ticket Lottery, Celebrity Entertainers Announced

If attending the president's National Christmas Tree Lighting is on your bucket list, you may want to mark your calendars, because this year's ticket lottery is set to open soon.
The National Park Service (NPS) announced this week that the lottery to receive free tickets for the 2016 event will open at 10 a.m., Oct. 7, and close just a few days later at 10 a.m., Oct. 10.
The 94th annual event will take place in President's Park at the White House on the evening of Dec. 1.

NPS also confirmed three musical acts that are confirmed to perform at the event this year--American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper, and renowned gospel singer Yolanda Adams.
The Hallmark Channel will broadcast the event the next day, Dec. 2.

To enter the lottery, visit www.thenationaltree.org between the above times and dates, and click on "Ticket Lottery." Those without computer access may call 1-877-444-6777 to enter the lottery.
The 2016 event happens in connection with the National Park Service's #FindYourPark campaign, to educate people about and encourage them to visit America's national parks.
