New Year's 2019: What's Open, Closed In DC
Wondering what's open and what's closed in the area for the New Year's 2019 holiday? We've got the breakdown for you.

WASHINGTON, DC -- With Christmas over with, everyone is looking ahead to the New Year. And with New Year's Day falling on a Tuesday this year, that means plenty of confusion over what is open and what is closed in the District.
We have a quick breakdown of what you can expect this week:
Government offices: Open New Year's Eve, closed on New Year's Day.

Schools: Schools are still on the winter break that started Dec. 24, and the break will continue through New Year's Day. Kids will return to school on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
Libraries: Libraries will close at 5:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve, and will be closed all day on New Year's Day.

DMV: DC DMV will be open on New Year's Eve, closed on New Year's Day.
Trash collection: There will be no trash collection on New Year's Day. Customers with trash collection on that day will have their trash collected on Wednesday, Jan. 2.
