Suspect in police officer's death ordered held on no bond (wjla.com) — A D.C. judge has ordered Jerrold Coates held without bond in the death of Metropolitan Police Officer Terry Bennett, who was struck on I-695 near South Capitol Street while helping a stranded driver. Bennett, a Southeast Washington native and Ballou High graduate, later died from his injuries, and his wife has launched a GoFundMe to support their young son as prosecutors await toxicology results and consider additional charges.
